About the memorial: Brass Plaque set in a black marble frame. There is a wide decorative border, culminating in a roundel in all four corners. The border forms a centre panel with domed top. At centre top is the badge of the D.L.I. raised in half relief. The lettering is in raised Roman upper and lower case. See North East War Memorials Project Link
