About the memorial: Grey marble tablet mounted on low wall. Tablet has pediment at top and shelf at base. Brass raised lettering. Carving within pediment of laurel wreath with ribbons. Commemorates 54 employees who sacrificed their lives in the First World War. At the base of the memorial is the motto of The Welsh Regiment in whose ranks several of the fallen had fought. Originally sited on a wall within the works at the Old Gasworks Estate, before being relocated to its present position when the factory was demolished in 1961. The community Centre was chosen because the workers social group still met at the centre.
