About the memorial: This brass plaque was attached to a building but, due to vandalism, it has been removed for its safe-keeping . The plaque is in good order and it is hoped to mount it on a permanent stone monument.

BIRCHINGTON MEMORIAL GROUND This Sports Ground was presented to Birchington in 1924 by Mr H A Freebach as a memorial to his three sons, who fell in the Great War. The childrens playing field was purchased out of surplus monies from the Birchington and Acol War Relief Fund and the Birchington War Memorial Fund.
