About the memorial: Memorial to the men of Horncastle killed in the Great War, with a later addition commemorating those killed in the Second World War. The main memorial, to those killed in the Great War, is an oak mural tablet, 7ft by 6ft, consisting of three panels: the centre one depicts the Crucifixion, carved in alto-relievo, with an inscription in raised lettering of burnished gold beneath. On each side is a panel containing two columns of names in incised and gilded letters. The panel beneath it contains three columns of names from the Second World War.
