THIS PLAQUE COMMEMORATES THE 140,000 MEN OF THE CHINESE LABOUR CORPS WHO WERE RECRUITED FROM CHINA IN 1917 BY BRITAIN AND FRANCE AND SENT TO SERVE IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR. THEIR VITAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE ALLIED VICTORY WILL BE FOREVER REMEMBERED. UNVEILED ON 25TH OCTOBER 2017, IN THE CENTENARY YEAR OF THE FIRST ARRIVAL OF THE CHINESE LABOURERS IN BRITAIN.
