About the memorial: A brick built plinth with sloping top supporting a gren coloured metal plaque showing an account of the action & a poem on the LHS side and a map of the area in Holland showing the route taken by those involved on the RHS. An orange plaque next to it remembers the Dutch Underground who assisted the operation. On either side there is a seat and there are black poplar trees nearby to replicate those found alongside canals & roads of Northern Belgium. Operation Mareket Garden was the code name for an operation to capture bridges over the main rivers of Holland from the Germans.
