About the memorial: The memorial stands inside the school grounds, overlooking the Quad. It was unveiled in 1953 as part of Coronation celebrations and was originally incorporated into the Memorial Building. However, the adjoining lecture theatre (D5) and classroom were demolished in 2002 when the Bushell Hall was completed, leaving the memorial isolated in situ. It forms part of the avenue between the Quad and the Bushell Hall.
