About the memorial: From Derby Daily Telegraph 14 March 1921 (2 days after official unveiling): "...measures 7ft by 4ft 3in has an inscription panel of statuary marble on which are displayed the names of the fallen. This is framed with a coloured alabaster tracery with the choice convent sienna inlaid in the panels…The whole represents a harmony of colouring and a chasteness of design altogether desirable in these memorials."
