The principal inscription is as follows; - “Sacred to the memory of Ernest Albert Watson, 11th Company, Third Regiment Imperial Yeomanry, who was killed in action at Riemfontein, South Africa, on 9th of August 1900, aged 24 years. Dulce et Decorum, est propatria mori. This memorial was raised by public subscription.”
