About the memorial:
"The 53ha hill (including farmland on the lower slopes) was acquired in 1962 through the National Land Fund (NLF). The NLF was set up in 1946 to purchase places of significant beauty or heritage value as a lasting memorial to those who gave their lives in war. It transferred these properties to various organisations to maintain them and provide public access. The Cloud is over 300m and from its summit are wide views over Staffordshire hills, Cheshire plains and the Potteries." National Trust
