About the memorial: Standing stone made of Belgian Bluestone, dedicated to the Belgian refugees who stayed in Richmond and Twickenham during the Great War. Many of these were employed at M. Pelabon's munitions factory by the Thames, so the memorial is situated close to where the Pelabon works (latterly Richmond Ice Rink) once stood.
