About the memorial: A brass plaque set into a marble surround. There is a Latin cross at the head of the plaque, flanked by a floral motif, and an etched border of columns and an arched top.

Walter Byrom Almark R.N.
Lieutentant of H.M.S. Briton
and son of the Rector of this Parish
who fell defending the guns of the
Naval Brigade at the battle of Tamanieh
in Egypt and was buried on the field
March 13 1884, aged 33;
this Brass and the West Window
are dedicated.
