About the memorial: A stone memorial cairn with an inscribed and painted metal plate on the top. It commemorates the crash of a Vickers Wellington bomber on 14 December 1942, which resulted in the deaths of the crew of five. The bomber was on a secret test flight from RAF Defford in Worcestershire to RAF Turnhouse, Edinburgh (now Edinburgh airport). The memorial was unveiled on 11 November 2012. (See links.)
