COLONEL R J F MEYRICKE/ LATE CAPTAIN ROYAL FUSILIERS/ REJOINED HIS REGIMENT SEPT 1914/ AFTER COMMANDING ITS 11TH BATT/ WAS ATTACHED TO AND COMMANDED/ 6TH BATT NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGT/ AND WAS KILLED 17TH FEBRUARY 1917/ AGED 38 NEAR MIRAUMONT/ WHILE LEADING IT IN AN ATTACK/ ON A GERMAN POSITION WHICH/ ACCORDING TO THE DISPATCH WAS/ GAINED MAINLY OWING TO HIS/ MAGNIFICENT PERSONAL EXAMPLE/ TWICE MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES/ SON OF R H MEYRICKE MA CANTAB/ BARRISTER/ ALSO IN MEMORY OF/ MAJOR. R. JOHN CHABBERT MEYRICKE/ HORSE AND FIELD ARTILLERY/ 3RD SON OF EDWARD MEYRICKE/ OF DINHAM LODGE LUDLOW/ SERVED ALL THROUGH THE SOUTH/ AFRICAN WAR AND IN FRANCE/ AND GALLIPOLI DIED IN ROYAL/ NAVAL HOSPITAL MALTA/ 26TH JANY 1916 AGED 38/ THE ABOVE MENTIONED WERE BOTH/ GRANDSONS OF THE REVD R.
