About the memorial: Illuminated nowy-headed paper roll in glazed wooden frame. At top the Royal Arms with Union Flowers continuing all around roll. At each side a trophy of arms. At bottom, the flags of the Allies with the Borough Arms at centre. Below the Royal Arms a scroll bearing the Borough title with inscription below. Names in three columns in central cutout "window" with key identifying those who died on active service and the recipients of the Military Medal, Distinguished Conduct Medal and Meritorious Service Medal (in that order). IWM Register says 148 names. 140 served and returned and 18 died, which does not add up.
