About the memorial: Brass Plaque on wooden backboard. The location is several miles to the east of Roy Bridge, to the north of the A86. There is a sign at the junction with the A86 directing you to the church and graveyard. Given that Major MacDonnell was executed at Carlisle by the English a purist might doubt that tis is a genuine war memorial, but he was undoubtedly a victim of a conflict. The IWM Register gives two spellings for the location, both of which differ from the one shown at the location itself.
