About the memorial: A pair of wrought iron gates painted blue and decorated with gold leaf. They are towards the eastern end of the crypt of York Minster At the top of each gate 2 lines of dedication read across the two gates. The lettering is painted in gold on the blue background. Beneath attached to the upright poles are 6 coats of arms or badges: Right hand gate 1. Harrow School 2. Christ Church College, Oxford 3. Oxford University Left hand Gate 4. Ford 5. Cheywynd-Talbot (Talbot quartering Chetwynd) 6. The Badge of the Grenadier Guards.
