About the memorial: UK/New Zealand Armed Forces: Restored single propeller blade, bent in places, supported by a flat-topped pyramid-styled square wooden base. Painted inscription. Names of crew engraved onto a board-mounted brass plaque fixed to the lower half of propeller blade. New Zealand and Union flags stand outwards to either side of the propeller. 11 OTU Wellington LN483 OP-B had departed Oakley at 1255 on 05/04/44 for a routine Cross-Country training flight. The aircraft lost control whilst flying in cloud and suffered an engine fire, followed by in-flight structural failure before it ultimately crashed at Poplars Farm, Rothersthorpe, close to the village church. One of its propeller blades now forms the centrepiece of the memorial
