About the memorial: Rustic cairn of large roughly hewn boulders to the right of the entrance gate, tucked into a small garden. The commemoration and names of the dead are listed in gold lettering on a black marble tablet (which looks new or recently renovated)set into the front. There isn't really a village here. The church is a few hundred metres east of the signpost to the ruins of Pluscarden Abbey.
