About the memorial: The memorial is situated in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, immediately to the south-east of the church. It comprises a rectangular cenotaph or stone of remembrance over 1m high.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The east face is inscribed in incised lettering: TO THE/ MEN OF DEBENHAM/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 18/ (33 NAMES)/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM. On the north face is a further inscription in incised lettering: ALSO OF THOSE/ OF THIS PARISH/ SECOND GREAT WAR/ 1939 – 45/ (SIX NAMES).
