About the memorial: An avenue of 12 trees in memory of George Smailes and the 11 other casualties from the village, planted along the walk from the donor's home to the Parish Church. The original trees are now (2018), over 50 feet tall. In 2018 a further 12 saplings were planted by local school-children on the 2 mile Centenary Walk. I have been unable to locate the walk on google so placed the pin on the church which seems to be the start and finish of the walk. Presumably it will be signposted. Dedicated July 2018.
