About the memorial: I have seen both spellings of the name but they are clearly the came person with the same sate and place of death. IWM Duplicate 78037 and 82007, pr4sumably because of the confusion over the spelling of the name. British Graves Registration Unit wooden cross with impressed aluminium name plaque in centre. Wooden cross from the grave of Sergeant H Lewis Burt Sergeant Burt was first wounded in April 1915 while serving with the Motor Machine Gun Service. He transferred to the Tank Corps and on 22 August 1917 was wounded during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). He died two days later at No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery near Ypres. Catalogue Reference EPH 950.1, Imperial War Museum
