About the memorial: Also known as Hanwell Cottage Hospital, this was founded in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee. After the Great War, it was extended and renamed in memory of the servicemen of Hanwell who had died. The new extension block was opened in April 1923 by Princess Alice of Athone, and there was a dedicatory plaque in the porch. The hospital was closed in 1979, and subsequently demolished.
