About the memorial: The memorial was formerly in Fonthill Chapel in East Grinstead. This is now a private residence. It is a rectangular bronze plaque with an embossed commemoration within an ornate bordering of oak leaves and acorns. The top border is inter-sected with the regimental badge of the Northamptonshire Regiment. There are screw holes at intervals around the border of the plaque, which was originally affixed to te chapel wall below a stained glass window (dedicated to Lieutenant Barthorp's younger brother, Nigel, who died at the age of thirteen a few months before Lieutenant Barthorp). The location of the window is unknown.)
