About the memorial: Unveiling and dedication of the village War Memorial took place Sunday afternoon [13th December 1921] in the churchyard of St. Andrew. Unveiled by Lieutenant Colonel Hodgkinson, dedicated by Rev Hall. The memorial which is worked in Hopton Wood stone, is in the form of an octagonal ornamental cross. On the second base appears the words. Honour, Justice, Liberty carved in bold relief, upon which stands the die base bearing the inscription and names of the fallen. From this rises a moulded and carved shaft terminating with the cross at a total height of eleven feet. The memorial was designed by A Howson, Sculptor, Tentercroft St, Lincoln.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
