About the memorial: To restore and complete the existing base and shaft of the former churchyard cross in the churchyard of the Parish Church of Gedney Hill by adding a new head representing a cross with the figure of Christ crucified and place a bronze plate on the stone at the foot of the shaft of the said cross bearing the names of the parishioners of Gedney Hill who lost their lives in the Great War. Such cross when completed to be about nineteen feet in height. Designed by Mr. William Bond of Grantham. Height of the cross was increased from15'10" to 18;62 by the addition of a calvary made from Clipsam stone. A cast bronze plaque was fixed to the base bearing inscriptions and names The Bishop of Grantham performed the unveil and dedication on Tuesday 28 April 1921.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
