About the memorial: The Gosberton Clough and Risegate war memorial, which is an imposing cross, situated on the north bank on the Risegate Eau, near Gosberton Station, was dedicated and unveiled on Sunday afternoon in beautiful sunny weather. About 400 people, men, women and children, were present at the service, which was solemnly impressive and lasted about an hour, that the people were appreciative was evident in the intense silence, and by the manifestations of sympathy. The memorial is a large cross, 12 or 14 feet in height, in Scottish granite, and was completed last Friday week. Messrs. John Langley & Son, of Kirton, being the contractors. The cross is mounted on foundation of 2-½ ft. of concrete. The cost of the memorial with the fence was £320. Unveiled by Mrs Royce wife of the local MP. Dedicated by the Vicar

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
