In commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the defence of Cowes and East Cowes by the Cowes built Polish Destroyer ORP Blyskawica on the night of the 4th/5th May 1942. This plaque, provided by the friends of the ORP Blyskawica society, is dedicated to those seventy residents of Cowes and East Cowes who sacrificed their lives in that Blitz and to the fortitude and bravery of the Officers and Crew of ORP Blyskawica. This plaque was unveiled on the 7th May 2017 by Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Dr, Arkady Rzegocki and Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of White Major General Martin White CB CBE JP.
