About the memorial: Wooden triptych with a brass cross in the centre portion which has the names to either side. The dates are on either door. 55 served and returned. 1 Fallen (John Shiels). Names on IWM Register 78874. "These triptyches were an 'off the shelf' item manufactured by Hughes Bolckow of Sunderland, from timber and metal recovered from HMS Britannia, a cadet training ship from 1889 to 1905.
