About the memorial: The two memorials are on a shared wooden board. The WW1 plaque is at the bottom, and is a bronze plaque. There was an accompanying Parchment scroll in a glass cylinder with 74 names, but that is now lost. All decoration of the plaque is in relief- at each top corner is a wreath, at bottom left are two furled flags with a crown centred above them, and at bottom centre is a stooped soldier with rifle looking at the grave of a fallen colleague, within an embossed roundel, and at bottom right is a field gun within an embossed shield. Above, for WW2, is a Bronze Celtic cross, with a bronze dedication plaque at centre. Again the names were placed on a parchment roll in a sealed container in the wall, which is also lost. However the newspaper report provides the names for those 15 men and 1 nursing sister
