About the memorial: A lantern in the roof of the lychgate and a brass plaque on on or the uprights. The plaque gives no details but Jackson was a merchant navy steward and killed when the California Star was sunk by a U-boat 335 miles north-west of the Azores in 1943.

In proud and loving remembrance of Lilian Jackson died Nov. 21st 1943 and her son Geoffrey Lucas died March 4th 1943. This Lantern is given by her husband Harry E Jackson and Family of Kerridge. “Their hearts for their home, their souls for God.”
