An inscription at the top reads as follows: “to the glory of God, and in loving memory of the following old scholars of the Higher-Grade School, who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-19.” The lower portion is divided into three panels, containing the names of 90 scholars who made the supreme sacrifice. A ribbon of bronze with the inscription “Also in honour of the 833 who served completes the design. The lettering is of Roman style in cream enamel and the memorial is fixed on the wall of the vestibule of the Old School directly facing the main entrance.
