About the memorial: Grey marble tablet with incised black inscription in the porch. The inscription refers to RMS Lancastria, a vessel which was sunk, but the Merton Roll of Honour website says he is buried in La Plaine sur Mer Communal Cemetery. Perhaps his body was washed up there.
