About the memorial: Erected on the north wall of the north aisle S/L Glasspool DFC BA was the Bomb Aimer in 156 Sqn Lancaster ND409 GT-S that had departed Upwood at 2235 for Ops Freidrichshafen on 28/04/44 The aircraft was probably the one that was intercepted at 6000M NW of Freidrichshafen by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht Jagd "Experten" Hptm Paul Zorner (Stab III/NJG5) and shot down for his 46th Abschusse The aircraft crashed into a wood 1km W of Neuhausen at 0210. All seven crew - including the Stn Cdr of Upwood (flying as Pilot) were killed in the loss By a quirk of fate, his daughter – also remembered on the plaque, died on the same date her father was killed, 35 years later to the day

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
