To the Glory of God and in loving memory of George Gordon Cameron of this city. Who volunteered for service in the South African War and enlisted in the Ipm. L. Horse. at Pietermaritzburg on Sep 25th 1899. After taking part in several engagements he fell in action while bravely defending Wagon Hill during the siege of Ladysmith on Jan 6. 1900 aged 31 years. Pro rege et patria.
