About the memorial: The memorial was described as a ‘handwritten Roll of Honour, sewn to a backing and mounted in a glazed wooden frame.’ Of the 111 names recorded, 11 died in action. The names of those who died were said to have been ‘indicated by a cross after the surname.’ The Roll of Honour was recorded as being displayed in the Boardroom at Claybury Hospital until 1998/1999, after which it was transferred to the Royal British Legion Loughton Branch by Mr Peter Cogger, a former Counsellor at the hospital. The current whereabouts of the Roll of Honour is unknown.
