To the glory of God and in memory of his servants who lost their lives while serving in the war in South Africa 1899-1902 Sergt. F. Pinner : Army Pay Corps died at Pretoria 25th April 1901 Sergt. A. Pavitt : 2nd Worcester Regt died at Heilbron 18th november 1901 Pte. T. Capell : "The Queens" fell at Colenso 15th December 1899 Pte. L. Chilton : 1st Rifle Brigade fell at Monte Cristo 18th February 1900 Pte. A. Bone : 4th Beds. (Herts Militia) died at Mafeking 13th December 1900 Pte. A. Norwood : 1st Suffolk Regt. died at Pretoria 11th February 1901 This tablet was erected by their fellow Townsmen 1903.
