About the memorial: Cradley Church of England School established an Avenue of Remembrance near the school. Trees, one for each soldier lost, were planted at the top end of St. Peter’s Cemetery and a cross and commemoration stone were placed at the end close to the church. A War Memorial with fifty three names was also placed in the school. A memorial stone dedicated to one of the pupils was placed at the foot of each tree. Not all the trees have survived.
