About the memorial: A sandstone cross on concrete eight sided base with four stepped base. There is a brass wreath where placed on top part of the cross. Raised inscription on the cross and names are inscribed on tablets which surmounted on four sides of plinth. Carved lettering in black The base and shaft are made of Portland stone and the name tablets are marble. The whole is mounted on circular steps of York stone. The design by Mr. Stanley Griffiths was accepted in 1920 but difficulties held up the actual building until 1927.The stone mason was Mr. C. R. Davies and Mr. J. M. Tate carried out the building of the cenotaph; the final cost being £457 15s 2d.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
