About the memorial: A monument commemorating the spot where, according to tradition, Richard Plantagenet, the Duke of York, was killed by the forces of the House of Lancaster after the battle of Wakefield in 1460. Octagonal column on plinth has gabled arcading at the top below a short spire. Figures and symbols in panels of arcading.
