About the memorial: Tree & Plaque Lancaster III NE127 DX-J, took off at 2223 from East Kirkby for Braubschweig, they were shot down by a night fighter and crashed at 2345 at Dorkwerd. They were interred at Hoogkerk (Kerkatraat) General Cemetery, The two survivors were the two air gunners both of the Royal Australian Air Force and became prisoner ‘s of war. The Commonwealth War Graves Commissions records the date of death as being the 23rd.
