About the memorial: A Memorial Plaque of English Oak on which appear the names of 38 residents of Westward Ho! who lost their lives in the 1939-1945 war was unveiled in 1952 at The Kingsley Hall, the Community Centre of Westward Ho!. From then on known as the Kingsley Memorial Hall. At the head of the plaque in gold letters appear the words 'Gloria Inaltissimis Deo and below in incised lettering are the names of the fallen from The Royal Navy, Army,Royal Air Force and Woman's Royal Naval Service
