About the memorial: Proposed by our petitioner Marian Somerville Topham of Wootton Grange to provide and place a memorial tablet the south wall (midway between the two windows) of the nave of the parish church of Wootton in memory of her son. That the said tablet is to be of brass and about two feet two inches by about one foot four inches and is to bear the following inscription namely: Faculty Book 13, page 340, dated 20-9-1919 410 x 658 x 2mm on 455 x 710 x 20mm

Topham of Wootton Grange who gave his life for God, King and Country at the Battle of Loos September 26 1915. “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life”
