About the memorial: Oak screen and rood, originally with panels showing names from WW1. Panels later replaced by 2 plaques either side of the chancel, one for WW1 and one for WW2. "To provide and place a Rood Screen of Oak with Rood and Figures thereon in the parish church of St Peter and also to take out from the east window the present plain glass and to insert instead tThat the said Rood Screen & figures are to be erected as a memorial of the Great War and to have the following inscription “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”. That the said new window is to consist of five lights.hereof stained glass That the said Rood Screen & figures are to be erected as a memorial of the Great War and to have the following inscription “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
