About the memorial: Tree & plaque 24 – 25 February – Take off 1810 from Wickenby for Schweinfurt for the final sortie of their first tour of operations and carrying a second pilot, Sgt Bowditch, for operational experience. Crashed at Marsal (Moselle), All are buried in the churchyard at Marsal. D.O.D. 25th February 1944. Bomber Command Losses – Volume 5 – page 101.
