Rupert Hildebrand ALINGTON, Lieut-Commander (S), H.M.S. "Abdiel", Royal Navy, the son of Colonel and Mrs. A.C.M. ALINGTON, of Binbrook, Lincolnshire. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. (H.M.S. Abdiel was lost on the 9th September 1943, after hitting mines laid by German E-Boats in Taranto Bay while transporting British troops from Malta for the occupation of Taranto)
