About the memorial: Book of Remembrance-the outer cover is in red leather, lavishly tooled and gilded, with the shield bearing the ancient arms of Northumbria surrounded by Tudor roses. The names are hnadwritten in Gothic upper and lower case script, with the names in black, and the regiment in smaller blue and red letters on alternate pages. It is set in a case affixed to a pillar, which has a wood frame with a sloping top. The top and sides are of glass. It bears a small brass plate at the back which tells of the dedication.
