TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN THANKFUL COMMEMORATION OF THE VICTORIOUS PEACE WHICH CONCLUDED THE WAR OF ENGLAND AND HER ALLIES WITH GERMANY AND THE CENTRAL POWERS OF EUROPE 1914 – 1919 THE CLOCK IN THE TOWER OF THIS CHURCH WAS GIVEN BY THE PEOPLE OF THE PARISHES OF STOKE & EASTON IN GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHOSE NAMES ARE HERE INSCRIBED WHO READILY FOUGHT FOR THEIR COUNTRY NOT COUNTING THE COST, SOME OF THEM LAYING DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR LAND AND HOME, STRIVING TOGETHER TO BRING FREEDOM TO THE OPPRESSED, AND TO FURTHER THE PEACE OF THE WORLD
