About the memorial: The rood beam is of carved wood, painted and decorated with a very handsome floriated cross, with the figure of our Lord on it, crowned with thorns. To the right is the figure of the Blessed Virgin, and to the left the figure of St. John. The whole is in very handsome, rich, subdued colouring, the flesh parts being ivory coloured, and the robes of the other figures in rich colouring. Messrs. Bowman & Sons, of Stamford, have carried out the work, from the designs and under the superintendence of the architect, Mr. Wilfred Bond, of Grantham. The figures are by Signor Tosi, of London, a well-known carver. The dedication ceremony was performed on Sunday morning, by the Rev. F. W. Hutchinson, Vicar of Holbeach and Rural Dean of East Elloe The memorial tablet is placed in the south-east corn of the nave-where the roll of honour stood. The names are carved on a oak board in a rich frame carved with the vine and the rose, and the whole is surmounted by a handsome carved cresting, having a shield in the centre bearing the device of St. George of England: A red cross on a white ground
