About the memorial: Stained glass window with dedications at the bottom. Father and two sons. Another similar window is in All Saints Church, Buckworth. Originally dedicated to the father with a panel to the sons inserted after WW1. These windows are the northerly ones in the west wall of the south transept.

Original dedication - "Giving thanks for the beloved memory of Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Walter Yeatherd, who fell leading his Regiment, 2nd Battalion the King's Own Royal Lancaster, at the assault of Greenhill below Pieters during the Relief of Ladysmith, February 22nd, and died at Pietermaritzburg February 26th 1900.
